One last pass for collection of trash . . .
Meet at Fleur De Lis at 11am on Sunday, June 6. Bring gloves and trash bags.
Or, if you can’t make it on June 6, join me this weekend for a sweep of the 42nd Street Overpass.
See you around “town,”
Kim

Thanks first to John Perkins for shepherding the clean-up efforts on May 2. Volunteers included:
Planters were planted and trash removed. We’ll be going out for one more trash pick-up on June 6 to get the final clean-up before the June 9 Junior Rose Parade.
Thanks to all, especially for your efforts while I was gone.

Please note the change in date. Mother’s Day is the second Sunday, so the Clean-Up will be May 2nd.
May 2, 11am-1pm at Fleur De Lis.
Benefits: Greg Mistell feeds the crew after we’re done. Yum. Baskin-Robbins offers ice cream scoops and Aliviar Coffee pours a good house coffee. The focus in May will be on planting and getting ready for the Junior Rose Parade.
Volunteers on May 2: Stay tuned for more information on tasks and what to bring.
If you are unable to help out on May 2, it doesn’t take a special event to walk out and pick up some of the lovely cigarette butts that adorn our sidewalks. And, if you see a “hot spot” that’s really looking bad, please leave a comment here. We need all they eyes on Hollywood that we can get. Let’s bring some life and some customers to our area.
And now, to the clean-up . . .

Thanks everyone who came out to clean-up Hollywood on April 11, 2010. We accomplished much and the efforts will continue. While it’s easy to get discouraged, often it’s the process of doing just a little at a time that makes all the difference.
Volunteers on April 11 were:
Bruce Bolton, Laurelhurst neighbor
Pam Medley, Laurelhurst neighbor
Patrick Donaldson, Forbes Associates
Roberta Donaldson, Fremont neighbor
John Perkins, Perkins Architecture
Shauna Perkins, Off the Couch
Jo Schaefer, Hollywood Neighborhood Association
Vickie Veltman, Hollywood neighbor
Brian Dudrey, Irvington neighbor
MaryCal Hanson, Grant Park Neighborhood Association
Jan Tolman, Jan and . . .
Paul Clark, Township Properties
John, Cameron, and Olivia Hill, Beverly Cleary family
Julie Jetton, Beverly Cleary PTA President
Julie’s 2 sons, their friends, and Julie’s husband
Kim Cottrell, Feldenkrais practitioner/speech pathologist
Thanks to Sponsors: Fleur De Lis for the fabulous sandwiches and cookies, Aliviar for the coffee, and Baskin Robbins for the ice cream. The clean-up results are all the sweeter with their help.
